Make Education Great Again

This month, we continue exploring the education theme, focusing on a critical question: Who bears the ultimate responsibility for educating our children? It's no secret that our education system faces relentless challenges. Last month's 22 Words film highlighted a key concern—that a socialist/globalist agenda seeks to dominate our society’s youth, pushing a secular, sexualized, and amoral framework. Proponents of this view claim it Takes a Village to raise a child, asserting that their professional expertise outweighs parental judgment in determining what’s best for kids.
In May 2016, "The Obama administration issued guidance to schools, saying they must allow transgender students to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity.
The administration acknowledges this is "new terrain" for some people and says it wants to help school districts avoid running afoul of civil rights laws." May 16, 2016 NPR
Soon after that presidential edict was issued, Gordon Shupe, one of the Truth Fest organizers, attended a faculty meeting. In his over 40 years working in public education, it was the first time his principal instructed the teaching staff to withhold information about gender confusion from parents. Shupe had already noticed other changes: a social worker assigned to every school, a prominent LGBTQ section in the middle school library, and a growing pride movement among seventh and eighth graders, evidenced by an afterschool club and a large mural with that theme at the school’s entrance.
Over the past five years, conditions in Brevard have generally improved. However, this experience highlights a key lesson: we, as a community, must actively participate in our local school system. We need to emphasize the authority of parents over their children’s upbringing. God established families to guide and disciple children, and after decades of decline, we must work to restore their strength.
Thus our March theme: Affirming Parental Rights

Featuring Patti Sullivan: Empowering Parents, Engaging Citizens
The Fight for Parental Rights in Florida and the Nation
| | | |
Patti Sullivan serves as the State Coordinator for Parental Rights in Florida.
In 2018, she proposed straightforward language to protect parental rights, which was later developed into the Florida Parents' Bill of Rights and enacted into law in 2021.
Her influence reaches beyond Florida, as she holds positions on the national boards of the Parental Rights Foundation and the Child & Parent Rights Campaign. Mrs. Sullivan's significant contributions make her an essential resource for local, state, and national organizations within the parental rights movement, demonstrating her widespread impact.
She educates parents and citizens about parental rights issues and encourages their participation in the legislative process.
Patti has been married to her husband, Jim Sullivan, for 36 years. After 17 years of marriage, they welcomed their miracle daughter, who is currently studying Government with a focus on American Politics and Policy at Patrick Henry College in Virginia. |

Beginning in 2012 In Florida, the parental rights movement ignited a powerful call for parents to reclaim their fundamental role in shaping their children’s well-being, education, and upbringing, challenging government overreach.
From the passing of the Parents’ Bill of Rights in 2021, continued parental rights legislation, and grassroots activism, this movement has underscored the vital importance of citizen engagement in restoring the fundamental rights of parents and the value of family in our society.
Continued active participation in government can advance the parental rights movement and safeguard family values in building a better future for our children and future generations. |
